New Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) system

In 2020, Flycom Technologies is expanding its aerial remote sensing fleet to include mobile laser scanning on solid ground. Introducing a new system for laser capture and spherical 360-degree high-resolution photography on a mobile platform.

The key components of the system are the Riegl VUX-1 LR sensor, a very light, compact and robust laser scanner with a range of 1350 m and a measurement speed of up to 750,000 points per second, which provides a dense point cloud, and the FLIR Ladybug spherical 360-degree camera, whose patented calibration ensures high resolution and accuracy of the spherical images captured. Carefully calibrated on a robust vehicle, the system is capable of capturing large amounts of data in a short time, even in challenging terrain.

The point cloud and spherical imagery produced are suitable for asset inspection and assessment, asset inventory and offer a huge range of possibilities for new applications.
The system is already racking up the kilometres – testing has been successfully completed in Bremen, Germany, and the entire network of lines has already been imaged for Slovenian Railways as part of public projects.
